Jim Tucker had overcome every obstacle in aviation from Navy flight training to international airline flying, but his most severe test came on April 7, 1994, when he and two fellow FedEx pilots were attacked by a suicidal coworker intent on commandeering and crashing their DC-10. Tucker suffered severe head injuries that day that ended his airline career, but he’s returned to flying—and the aviation community—through the Light Sport Aircraft category.
