Arlene Elliott had a passion for aviation that led to a fruitful career in the industry and her induction into the Women in Aviation, International’s Pioneer Hall of Fame in 1999. Elliott died in January, but her legacy will live on in part through WAI.
The association, which provides opportunities for women and men in the aviation and aerospace industries to network, mentor others, and receive scholarships, announced June 3 that it had received a $203,000 bequest from Elliott’s estate.
“Through the gift she has provided, Arlene’s strong spirit will live on through the individuals who will directly benefit from her generosity,” said Peggy Chabrian, president of WAI.
Elliott and her husband Herb founded Elliott Aviation in 1936. The company has expanded to seven states and more than 250 employees.
