MT offers four-blade prop for Cirrus SR22

MT's new four-blade prop for Cirrus SR22

MT’s newly FAA-certified four-blade prop for the Cirrus SR22 is proving quite popular with customers around the world—and for different reasons.

Larry Schlasinger, managing partner at Flight-Resource LLC, the Wisconsin firm that led the certification program, said the new prop is in exceptionally high demand among SR22 owners.

“It’s quieter, and that’s a major consideration in some parts of the world,” he said. “It also offers better engine cooling, as well as climb and cruise performance, and it’s got more ground clearance. We’re producing them as quickly as we can, and we’re sending them all over the globe.”

Cirrus founder Alan Klapmeier volunteered his personal airplane to be used for the certification testing. The four-blade MT prop can be used on turbo-normalized, supercharged, and normally aspirated SR22s, and it’s a suitable replacement for all existing composite or metal SR22 props.

The scimitar-shaped props are manufactured in Germany. They have a wood core, composite covering, and metal leading edges.
