Los Angeles vortac down for maintenance

The FAA has issued a notam placing the LAX vortac out of service for maintenance. The outage is scheduled for 1700Z to 2200Z June 30.

Pilots who will be flying in the area are encouraged to check notams before flight to see if the LAX vortac is back in service. If not, pilots will need to alter their navigation requirements accordingly.

AOPA encourages members to alert the association if they experience trouble using alternate means of navigation during this outage. The email should include the date, time of issue, N number, and communications frequency being used at the time.
