Combs to share tips on flight planning

After flying a Remos light sport aircraft to 49 states, Flight for the Human Spirit pilot Michael Combs has no doubt learned some of the finer points of flight planning. He’ll share his insights April 2 at Sun ‘n Fun during a 9 a.m. forum, “How to plan a cross-country trip.”

Combs’ flight to Sun ‘n Fun will help him cross the 26,000-mile mark and make his 161st stop on a journey that started just more than one year ago, according to a press release. Combs, whose goal is to encourage people to “live their lives with no regrets,” reached an estimated 23 million people on his journey, which he will detail on April 3 in a 10 a.m. forum, “The Flight for the Human Spirit.”

Combs became a sport pilot after recovering from an irregular heartbeat and near-death experience. Initially, Combs thought his health condition would ground his dream of learning to fly, until he learned about the sport pilot certificate. Combs uses his triumph to encourage others to pursue their dreams.

Sun ‘n Fun attendees, as well as those logged in online, can watch Combs and AOPA President Craig Fuller on AOPA Live at 11 a.m. March 31 as they discuss how pilots can help rally GA.
