Cessna Aircraft’s upgrade to the Citation X, called the Citation Ten, is making progress and is expected to fly by the end of 2011, with deliveries in 2013. The upgraded model is designed to make the Ten go higher, faster, and farther than the Citation X.
The new model was announced last year at the National Business Aviation Association convention. It is considered a mid-size jet and carries nine passengers and two pilots. The Citation X is already touted by the company as the world’s fastest certified business jet.
The two Rolls-Royce AE 3007C2 engines will give the aircraft a maximum cruise speed of 527 knots and a certified ceiling of 51,000 feet. The Ten is 15 inches longer than the Citation X, providing extra passenger legroom in the forward club seating area.
