If you’ve spent your entire time off the ground in a training airplane, it’s time to discover something new. This is especially true if you’re losing motivation. Flying an antique airplane can be a life-changing experience, and with so many of them easily available, there’s no reason not to try it.
You could go big and fly a World War II fighter, or keep things more reasonable and fly a Piper Cub or an Aeronca Champ. People who own airplanes such as Cubs, Champs, and Stearmans are accustomed to giving rides, and most are happy to do so. Spend an afternoon flying off a grass strip in a tube-and-fabric tailwheel airplane and you’ll feel like a barnstormer from the 1920s.
