The aviation dreams of most pilots didn’t maturate as a Saturday afternoon hamburger run in a Cessna. Kids just don’t dream about such things. Among other things, those reveries likely consisted of flying a jet. So what are you waiting for?
Various places around the country offer jet experience courses, ranging from a half-hour in the air to two days in an as-real-as-it-gets simulator. It all comes down to how much you want to pay. For learning that can be translated back to the burger run, opt for the simulator sessions. You’ll experience what it’s like to be a new hire at a major airline, including ground school and simulator time. The fact that you won’t actually be in the air is somewhat irrelevant. The experience will feel realistic, and the transfer of learning will be realistic.
