Island hopping GA style

bahamas

Flying in the Bahamas, it’s difficult to tell which sight is more exciting—the tropical waters or exotic islands, the Gulfstream touching down just after a piston twin clears the runway, or a Maule on floats taxiing by a row of parked business jets. The aircraft, operations, scenery, and culture in the Bahamas vary widely, depending on the island visited.

The Bahamas Out Island Promotion Board is hoping to attract pilots to more islands by offering an incentive package to those who fly their personal aircraft to multiple Out Islands during their visit. The board is offering a $150 “instant credit savings on a two night consecutive stay at any participating hotel.” The group is specifically encouraging travel to the Acklins, Crooked Island, San Salvador, and Long Island.

The offer for pilots traveling privately is limited to one reservation with a maximum of two rooms per reservation, and it cannot be combined with other offers. It is good for bookings through June 26 and travel through June 30. “At check-in the pilot should present a copy of the Bahamas customs stamped C7A receipt in the name of the travelling party,” the board states in a press release.
