Congress has extended legislation that allows donors to make a tax-free gift from traditional or Roth IRA accounts through Dec. 31. The AOPA Foundation can provide a means to take advantage of a rollover of up to $100,000 for a single person or $200,000 for a husband and wife with separate IRA accounts to the foundation. It is a hassle-free offer for donors 70 1/2 years of age or older, but the distribution must take place by the end of 2013. You are a U.S. citizen, and you plan to fly to and stay in the Bahamas for a couple of days. Which personal documents must you have when you arrive as pilot in command?


You must have a valid passport, your pilot certificate (with an English-proficient endorsement), your medical certificate, and an FCC restricted radiotelephone operators permit. If the aircraft is not registered in your name, you will need to possess a letter of authorization. Additional documents and equipment are required for the aircraft.
