Wisconsin company offers upset course to pilots

Global Flight Research's Redbird FMX simulator

Global Flight Research in Green Bay, Wisc., is now offering its Airline Flight Upset training course for general aviation pilots.

The one-day course is meant to teach pilots the skills to recognize and recover from an in-flight upset. It includes three hours of ground school, a minimum of an hour in a Redbird FMX full-motion simulator, and a minimum of an hour in an E33C Bonanza.

According to company owner Robert Vuksanovic, the course was designed by airline pilots, and was originally envisioned only for airline flight crews. But now enrollment is available to both individuals and multi-person crews.

Global Flight Research also offers a nonpilot course designed to introduce friends and family to control manipulation.

The non-FAA-certified upset course is $850, and Avemco insurance policy holders receive a discount upon completion. The friends and family course is $450.
