A record 100 scholarships with a combined value of $570,940 are available to Women in Aviation, International (WAI) members in 2015, the association announced Oct. 31.
The scholarships will be awarded during Women in Aviation, International’s twenty-sixth annual International Conference, held in Dallas March 5 through 7, and mark the highest number and value of scholarships since the association’s scholarship program began in 1995, WAI said. Applications must be postmarked by Nov. 17.
Women in Aviation, International is a nonprofit organization that offers networking, mentoring, and scholarship opportunities for women and men in aviation and aerospace. WAI President Peggy Chabrian emphasized the variety of scholarship opportunities in a media release, stressing that financial support is available to career pilots, students, dispatchers, maintenance personnel, flight attendants, engineers, and people who fly for fun.
"The important thing to remember about WAI scholarships is that they are not just for students," said Chabrian. "We have something to offer members at all stages of their careers. WAI scholarships change lives; we've seen that countless times."
Applicants must be members of Women in Aviation, International as of Nov. 1, and may apply for up to two scholarships. Scholarships to be awarded in 2015 include 11 new scholarships; see the website for the list of opportunities, tips on how to win a scholarship, and to apply.
