Bombardier launches Challenger 650

Bombardier has added the $32.35 million, 12-passenger Challenger 650 to its product family. NetJets is the launch customer for the aircraft. It is equipped with GE CF34-3B engines with boosted thrust for short-field takeoffs.

NetJets placed an order on June 11, 2012, for 25 Challenger 650 jets, formerly referred to as the 605NG. NetJets has options for an additional 50 aircraft. Deliveries are expected to begin in mid-2015.

The aircraft has a promised range of 4,000 nautical miles, or enough to fly from London to New York.

The aircraft will have the Bombardier Vision flight deck found on the Global 5000 and 6000 that is based on Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics. The cabin, using the Lufthansa Technik NICE system, has large HD monitors, audio and video on demand, Bluetooth, and other connectivity capabilities. Standard equipment includes an Iridium phone system and a cabin management system with 24-inch monitors.

Lufthansa Technik is known for luxury interiors on VIP airliners, and this year features a luxury Boeing 747 model at the National Business Aviation Association convention taking place Oct. 21 through 23 in Orlando.
