Promising performers
They're coming. Following the rollout of a prototype in 2014, Switzerland's Pilatus Aircraft has achieved certification of its new Pilatus PC–24 twinjet. Plane spotters are likely to start seeing examples of the single-pilot, 11-passenger aircraft soon, with deliveries to its first customer, a New Hampshire-based fractional-ownership company, beginning in January 2018. The maker of the well-known PC–12 single-engine turboprop created a 440-knot business jet that is able to use runways—improved or otherwise—that competitors cannot. (Photo courtesy of Pilatus.)
Final Exam
Question

I am a pilot who recently earned a remote pilot certificate with a small unmanned aircraft systems rating. Does this new certificate exempt me from taking a flight review in accordance with 14 CFR 61.56?
Answer
No. Any certificate or rating added by passing a practical test conducted by an examiner can be used in lieu of a flight review. Because a remote pilot certificate requires no practical test, earning this certificate does not satisfy the review requirement.

Did you know that student pilots who join AOPA are three times more likely to complete their flight training? Membership includes unlimited access to aviation information by phone (800-USA-AOPA, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time) or from AOPA Online.
