New recurrent drone training and LAANC courses available
A new online course for recurrent Part 107 training will be available from King Schools by the end of August for $59, the aviation training company announced July 26.
The fee buys lifetime access to the course, which will be maintained and kept current so that remote pilots can reuse the course to meet the recurrent requirements.
LAANC, or low altitude authorization and notification capability, divides controlled airspace into blocks with altitude restrictions within which drone operations may be authorized electronically before flight. The FAA has worked with air traffic controllers to define where drone operations may be safely conducted inside of controlled airspace, and has published "grids" that depict those blocks. Pilots flying near airports where LAANC has been enabled (a process that is ongoing) can receive near-instantaneous permission using approved third-party software.
“This is very important for commercial operators,” said King Schools co-founder Martha King.
The course will also be added as an elective lesson in the King Schools Flight Instructor Refresher Course and the Drone Pilot Training Course.
