Speak up or shut up?

You’re cruising at 10,000 feet msl just above a layer of cumulus clouds when the pilot of a piston single flying at 8,000 feet msl complains of continuous light to moderate turbulence. Do you chime in on a busy frequency to tell him about your smooth ride, or wait to be asked?

Offer a pilot report to ATC. Hopefully they hear it and respond by requesting a new altitude, especially since many new pilots are afraid to go to 10K for some reason. —Joseph Chambers

File a pirep [pilot report] over the frequency. In this situation you don’t have an emergency transmission to make regarding safety of flight, but a pirep is acceptable and would relay info to others! —Dwight Roberts
