Fusion of technologies
Among the aircraft introduced to the U.S. market in 2018 was the Fusion 212, a sleek low-wing side-by-side two-seater with a composite fuselage, powered by a 100-horsepower Rotax engine driving a three-bladed ground-adjustable propeller. Magnus Aircraft America, whose parent company is in Hungary, introduced the special light sport airplane at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, highlighting its functionality in a variety of uses from primary training to upset recovery and aerobatics. The Fusion 212 also features an electronic flight information system, an angle-of-attack indicator, and a ballistic parachute system.
Final Exam
Question

I am training for my commercial pilot airplane certificate and have heard the two required two-hour/100-mile day and night cross-country flights must be flown with an instructor. Where can I find this requirement?
Answer
The two cross-country flights are specified in 14 CFR 61.129(a)(3)(iii) and (iv). "Training time" is defined in 14 CFR 61.1 as "training received...from an authorized instructor," so an authorized instructor must be on board for those flights.

This question and answer were provided by the aviation experts in AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Did you know that student pilots who join AOPA are three times more likely to complete their flight training? Membership includes unlimited access to aviation information by phone (800-USA-AOPA, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time) or from AOPA Online.
