I am a new AOPA member and attempting to earn my private pilot certificate. I enjoyed reading Ian J. Twombly’s article (“Right Seat: Mind Over Matter,” October 2018 Flight Training) and couldn’t agree more. I began my training almost 30 years ago. After my introductory flight, my wife gave me the best news a man can ask for. I was going to be a father! Well, this put training on hold. Since my youngest son has left the nest, it was time to start up again. I now have approximately 10 hours logged and have found the training fun and invigorating.
Twombly’s article hits home. I told my instructor that my number one concern is safety, yet I can’t wait to be on my own flying to destinations around this great country of ours.
Thank you for your article and for a great publication. I read it cover to cover last night and look forward to the next issue.
