Plane Spotter
AOPA
In the training pipeline
You may have seen it if you attended the recent AOPA Fly-In at Frederick Municipal Airport in Maryland—and if not, there should be multiple opportunities to spot a Piper Pilot 100, a new single-engine trainer coming soon from Piper Aircraft. A reduced-cost descendant of the highly successful 180-horsepower Piper Archer TX, the two-place Pilot 100 and three-place Pilot 100i instrument trainer are on a demonstration tour with production models expected in 2020. A spotting hint: Piper Pilot 100s have a new white-with-stripes paint scheme and two side windows rather than the Archer's three.
Final Exam
Question

I would like to practice using my little drone inside my hangar, which is located on a Class C airport. Does the Class C airspace include the space inside my hangar?
Answer
No. While inside your hangar, you are not in the National Airspace System, and your drone has no chance of impacting manned aircraft operations. Flying the drone out through the open door, however, changes that possibility. Consider keeping the hangar door closed while practicing.

This question and answer were provided by the aviation experts in AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Did you know that student pilots who join AOPA are three times more likely to complete their flight training? Membership includes unlimited access to aviation information by phone (800-USA-AOPA, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time) or from AOPA Online.
