Final Exam
Question

Now that the long-awaited ADS-B Out deadline has arrived, what should pilots do if they need to fly in rule airspace in an aircraft that isn't equipped?
Answer
Pilots must use the FAA's ADS-B Deviation Authorization Preflight Tool (ADAPT). The online web portal must be used to request flight in rule airspace without the installed equipment at least one hour but not more than 24 hours before the flight. For more information, see AOPA's ADAPT Fact Sheet.

This question and answer were provided by the aviation experts in AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Did you know that student pilots who join AOPA are three times more likely to complete their flight training? Membership includes unlimited access to aviation information by phone (800-USA-AOPA, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time) or from AOPA Online.
