Several aviation scholarship opportunities—including some from AOPA—are available now to individuals studying aviation, pursuing an aviation career, or adding to their existing certificates and ratings.

AOPA scholarships deadline approaching

February 14 is the deadline to apply for AOPA Flight Training Scholarships! We offer options for high school students and teachers, student pilots, and certificated pilots. Learn more and begin the application process.

Third annual Collins writing prize competition opens

Sporty’s Pilot Shop and Air Facts, the publication associated with aviation writer, publisher, and safety advocate Richard Collins, have called for entries to the third annual $2,500 Richard Collins Writing Prize for Young Pilots. Writers up to age 24 are eligible. The application deadline is March 4.

Two Piper scholarships available

Piper Aircraft is making scholarships available for high school and college students. The deadline for a $1,000 Piper Freedom of Flight award for a high school senior is March 30. The deadline for a $5,000 Bill Gluck Memorial Scholarship for a college junior or senior enrolled in a Florida college or university is April 30. To request an application for either scholarship, send an email to Piper.

GAMA Stimpson scholarship application opens

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association announced January 21 that applications are open for the $2,000 Edward W. Stimpson Aviation Excellence scholarship, named for the association’s founder. The application deadline is April 16.

FAST to award multiple jet type rating scholarships

Female Aviators Sticking Together will award six type rating scholarships, together valued at $75,000, to women seeking initial or recurrent training in Cessna Citation CE500/CE525 jet aircraft. LOFT Advanced Flight Training in Carlsbad, California, will provide the Part 142 training in an advanced full flight simulator environment. Apply by April 1.
