Remembering our fallen military personnel
Remembering our fallen military personnel
This Memorial Day weekend, we honor military personnel who died while serving our country, and we thank all who have bravely served and are currently serving. The late AOPA Technical Editor Mike Collins captured this photo of a special salute to our military—the Commemorative Air Force's B–29 Fifi framed by flags surrounding the base of the Washington Monument during the Arsenal of Democracy World War II Victory Capitol Flyover in 2015. Final Exam
Question

My flight review has expired, and I am not current with respect to landings. My understanding is that I cannot get current because I cannot act as pilot in command, and I need to fly with a CFI to regain currency. Is that correct?
Answer
You certainly need someone to act as PIC while you log the time and landings. The best option is a CFI who can accurately evaluate your performance, determine if/when intervention is necessary, and then intervene effectively from the right seat. While any pilot legal to act as PIC with a passenger could also legally fly with you, they might not be able to do all those things a CFI is trained and certificated to do, and you would still need to complete the flight review before acting as PIC.
