In the field

Would you stand on a perfectly good airplane—in flight?
Fortunately you don’t have to, thanks to daring performers like Canadian Carol Pilon, who will be profiled in an upcoming issue of AOPA Pilot. Closer to home, we poked around the hangars of a taildragger paradise in Pennsylvania, and jammed ourselves into an Extra aerobatic aircraft to bring you some dizzying shots.
Wingwalker Carol Pilon’s team allowed AOPA staffers Senior Photographer David Tulis (@dtulis) and Video Editor Michelle Walker (@michelle_m_walker) behind the scenes to document their amazing feats during the Aero Gatineau-Ottawa Air Show in Quebec, Canada, for an upcoming story by Senior Features Editor Julie Summers Walker (@sumwalk736).

Sometimes you feel like a sardine, sometimes you don’t. Senior Photographer David Tulis (@dtulis) proves he is up to the challenge of climbing into an Extra with a parachute. @davehirschman Wingwalker Carol Pilon’s team allowed AOPA staffers Senior Photographer David Tulis (@dtulis) and Video Editor Michelle Walker (@michelle_m_walker) behind the scenes to document their amazing feats during the Aero Gatineau-Ottawa Air Show in Quebec, Canada, for an upcoming story by Senior Features Editor Julie Summers Walker (@sumwalk736). Senior Editor Jill W. Tallman (@jill_at_fdk) loves to poke around airports when she’s on assignment. At Van Sant Airport 9N1 in Erwinna, Pennsylvania, she found this dog-friendly 1928 Travel Air and an FBO building crammed with aviation memorabilia. (@jill_at_fdk) Senior Editor Jill W.
