ForeFlight enables emergency guidance

ForeFlight subscribers will be able to get detailed engine-out instructions and view them on a 3D map as a result of an upgrade to the popular aviation app demonstrated at the National Business Aviation Association Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Las Vegas.

“The engine-out procedures are easier to conceptualize in three-D,” said Sam Taylor, ForeFlight technical marketing specialist, who showed off some of the enhancements the company has developed for business aviation. “Our Runway Analysis has been expanded to include about 80 percent of the aircraft models in the (business aviation) fleet.”

ForeFlight’s upgrades for corporate flight departments allow them to monitor company flights around the world as they happen, customize aircraft reserve fuel policies, and log flights electronically. Burdensome paperwork on oceanic flights can be recorded and stored automatically, too.

ForeFlight was founded in 2007 and helped popularize the use of iPads and other iOS devices in general aviation aircraft. It’s expanded rapidly in corporate, airline, and military aviation and was bought by Boeing in 2019.
