Tecnam teases Rivale
New personal aircraft will feature Garmin G2000 Prime flight deck
During EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in Wisconsin, Tecnam Managing Director Giovanni Pascale Langer unveiled a 3,000-pound sculpture incorporating the propeller, cowl, engine, and windshield of a new personal aircraft called the Rivale.
The airplane will be powered by a 300-horsepower Continental CD-300 V6 twin-turbocharged Jet A diesel aircraft engine featuring common rail direct injection and full authority digital engine control (FADEC).
Tecnam also anticipates the Rivale will be the first aircraft to feature the newly announced Garmin G2000 Prime avionics suite. Garmin revealed the G2000 Prime days before AirVenture, and at the time said only, “It’s coming soon to many of your favorite aircraft.”
The G2000 Prime incorporates many features found on the G3000 Prime flight deck used in turbine-class aircraft—including dual 14-inch high-resolution touch-screen primary display units; a 7-inch touch-screen secondary display unit; and safety-enhancing technologies such as Garmin Autoland, Smart Glide, Smart Rudder Bias, Electronic Stability Protection, Emergency Descent Mode, and Garmin Autothrottle—and makes them available on high-performance Class I/II piston and electric aircraft. The G2000 Prime will be initially available for factory installation, but not for retrofit.
Expect to see a complete Tecnam Rivale aircraft on display at next year’s Sun ’n Fun Aerospace Expo, April 6 through 11 in Lakeland, Florida.
