AOPA's Airport Directory 2005-2006, a key AOPA member benefit and a great flight-planning tool for pilots of all levels, will soon be ready to mail. The directory includes airport information similar to what you will find in FAA Airport/Facility Directories. But there's much more in this book than basic airport data.
One of a kind, AOPA's Airport Directory contains comprehensive preflight information on more than 5,400 aviation businesses, such as fixed-based operators, flight schools, and repair facilities. New this year is the inclusion of individual toll-free Flight Service Station telephone numbers (FSS) associated with almost every airport. These enable you to directly access a specific FSS using your cellular phone -- especially important if you are calling from outside your home service area.
Other practical information includes more than 2,600 airport diagrams (great to help visualize your pattern entry), 28,000 listings for restaurants and lodging, 10,000 car rental and taxi service companies, and local attractions and general notes for almost every airport in the United States. When you sit down to plan a $100 hamburger jaunt or a cross-country excursion with your flight instructor, you'll now know what your destination airport has to offer.
The soft-cover Airport Directory, printed once every two years, is provided free to all paid AOPA members.
