Flight for the Human Spirit reaches Wisconsin

Sport pilot Michael Combs stopped in several cities and towns in the Midwest last week as he pressed on in the Flight for the Human Spirit.

At Oshkosh, Wis., Combs met with officials from the Experimental Aircraft Association. Combs initially announced the Flight for the Human Spirit, in which he is endeavoring to fly to or land in all 50 states in a Remos GX light sport aircraft, at AirVenture 2009. He launched on the flight in April.

“Oshkosh was one of the highlights that I had looked forward to even as I was planning this mission,” Combs said. “There’s something about being there that stirs the soul of every pilot at heart. When I lined up for my final approach on Runway Nine [at Wittman Regional (KOSH)], I couldn’t help but smile.”

Currently in Des Moines, Iowa, Combs will fly to Nebraska this week. You can follow his progress at AOPA Online or the Flight for the Human Spirit website.
