AOPA Summit Block Party

Pilots to celebrate aviation in downtown Long Beach

After the sun sets in California on Nov. 12, attendees will take the fun of AOPA Aviation Summit to the streets of downtown Long Beach.

Aviation enthusiasts will have a chance to dance to the music of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s while they show their support for general aviation at a Friday night block party in the heart of the Long Beach restaurant district from 6 to 10 p.m. Pilots and nonpilots alike are welcome at the casual event, held outdoors at Pine Avenue, adjacent to the convention center; a suggested donation of $20 will help support the GA Serves America campaign.

Local restaurants have partnered with AOPA to provide specially-priced menus for Summit attendees--wear your badge to obtain a discount at any one of the restaurants listed on the block party Web page. Make your reservation early to take advantage of outdoor restaurant seating, and don’t forget to mention AOPA when booking to be sure you get the special Summit menus.

Southern California’s Silverbeat Band, a tribute band that plays hits from such artists as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bobby Darin, Elvis, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Herman’s Hermits, and more, will provide music as pilots dance and mingle with fellow attendees, AOPA staff, and invited guests.

Donations to the GA Serves America campaign will help AOPA speak on pilots’ and aircraft owners’ behalf in Washington, D.C., and help keep the future of GA strong.

Parking is available in city lots and garages surrounding the event, or members can easily walk from the Hyatt, Renaissance, Westin, Courtyard Marriott, and Best Western at the Convention Center and Rodeway Inn. Register online to attend. —AOPA ePublishing staff
