Airportfest

Fly in for breakfast, stay for barbecue at Airportfest

Pancakes at the airport—what better way to start your day? Except maybe an early-morning flight in the crisp November air along the Long Beach, Calif., skyline. Fly in for a pancake breakfast and mingle with fellow pilots and AOPA members at Airportfest at the Long Beach/Daugherty Field during AOPA Aviation Summit on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The Airportfest Pancake Breakfast runs from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and will feature Rod Machado’s “Learning to Fly” presentation on the Airportfest Main Stage. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at Summit registration or at Airportfest.

Afterward, peruse the dozens of aircraft that will be on display like the Lockheed Electra Jr., military aircraft, glider, helicopters, and aircraft from manufacturers including Cirrus, Piper, Embraer, Cessna, and Remos. AOPA’s 2010 Sweepstakes Remos GX will be at Airportfest, waiting for one lucky person to fly away as its new owner! The Flight for the Human Spirit Remos, which has touched down in 49 states, also will be on display.

Live music, food concessions, discovery flights, and autograph opportunities from aviation legends will be available through the day at Airportfest from Nov. 11 through 13.

At the end of the day Nov. 13, wind down as Summit wraps up with a barbecue at Airportfest from 5 to 8 p.m. Get a front-row seat to watch aircraft take off and land, hear live music, and enjoy great food. Tickets are $30 per person and are available at registration and at Airportfest. Complimentary round-trip transportation for the barbecue will run from the Long Beach Convention Center to Airportfest, and to and from the AirFlite FBO from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
