Find the ‘Path to Pilothood’ at EAA AirVentureFind the ‘Path to Pilothood’ at EAA AirVenture

Rally GAThe Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA’s) fifty-eighth annual AirVenture fly-in at Wittman Field in Oshkosh, Wis., promises once again to deliver aviation’s unmatched thrills and excitement to thousands of pilots and other onlookers from July 25 to 31.

For the many would-be aviators drawn to the displays and airshows who wonder how they can find their own way into the skies, AOPA will be on the scene to provide answers through the association’s exhibit in the EAA Learn to Fly Discovery Center.

Anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming a pilot should be sure to visit the Learn to Fly Discovery Center Saturday, July 30, at 1 p.m. when Jennifer Storm, AOPA director of flight training initiatives, will give the presentation “Your Path to Pilothood: Flight Training FAQs.”

Don't miss this opportunity to get answers to prospective pilots' most frequently asked questions. Find out how to save time and money, overcome common obstacles, and get access to free student support resources. Attendees also can enter to win a free introductory flight.

While visiting the center, you will have an opportunity to take the controls of a full-motion Redbird FMX flight simulator to see what it’s like to fly a small airplane. Look over the products of Tecnam Aircraft, an Italy-based manufacturer of light sport aircraft, and a sponsor.

Get acquainted with representatives of EAA’s Young Eagles program; they’ll tell you how children ages 8 to 17 can take a free first flight to start on a lifelong aviation journey.

Mingle with pilots, students, and others interested in learning to fly. Enjoy aerobatic performances daily at 3:30 p.m.—and a special 8:30 p.m. Saturday-only night airshow.

Visitors can enter daily drawings for a chance to win prizes.

The Learn to Fly Discovery Center is located at ConocoPhillips Plaza, just south of EAA’s Member Welcome Center. Prospective pilots and pilots in training can find out even more about flying at the AOPA tent (Booth 195, west of Hangar C). Don’t forget to take the daily drawing at the tent for your chance to win prizes including an iPad 2.

EAA AirVenture gates open daily at 7 a.m. Exhibit buildings are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the event website for admission prices and to find out more about EAA AirVenture.
