Construction at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport in Florida will be completed early, and normal operations will resume June 24, about two weeks ahead of schedule.
The collaborative efforts of all airport users proved a major factor in completing the work ahead of schedule. The Air Transport Association assisted the effort by establishing an ad hoc committee to track progress of construction and distribute updates to the user community.
Normal airport operations are scheduled to resume at 5 p.m. local time June 24 upon the Runway 9L/27R construction project’s completion. Runway closures previously planned for June 25 through July 7 have been canceled, and an updated notice to airmen will reflect the change.
The construction project included high-speed taxiways, expanded runway entry areas, installation of runway surface lights, and relocation of ILS equipment.
