The FAA has issued a new flight advisory for potentially unreliable GPS signals in the vicinity of Truth or Consequences, N.M., between May 31 and June 30. The advisory is in addition to a previously issued advisory that remains in effect at various times though July 1.
Under the new advisory, GPS signals may be unreliable or unavailable within a 460-nautical-mile radius centered at 332933N/1062457W or the TCS VOR 73.9-degree radial at 45.4 nm at Flight Level 400 and above, decreasing in area with decrease in altitude to a 445-nm radius at Flight Level 250, a 335-nm radius at 10,000 feet msl, a 335-nm radius at 4,000 feet agl, and a 265-nm radius at 50 feet agl.
Pilots are encouraged to report anomalies to the appropriate air route traffic control center to help determine the extent of signal degradation. Please share your reports with AOPA.
Notams will be published at least 24 hours in advance of tests, but may change with little or no notice. Pilots are encouraged to check notams frequently for changes to operations in the area. Tests will be continuous during the stated times, the FAA said.
The testing schedule is set for May 31 from 0200Z to 1200Z, June 1 to 3 from 0200Z to 0700Z, June 4 to 7 from 0200Z to 1200Z, June 8 from 0701Z to 1200Z, June 10 from 0701Z to 1200Z, June 11 to 13 from 0200Z to 1200Z, June 15 to 17 from 0200Z to 0700Z, June 18 to 21 from 0200Z to 1200Z, June 22 to 23 from 0701Z to 1200Z, June 24 from 0200Z to 0700Z, June 25 to 28 from 0200Z to 1200Z, and June 29 to 30 from 0200Z to 0700Z.
