The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is asking aviation stakeholders to test out its new, Web-based airport mapping application.
WSDOT created the app to make the airport and land-use compatibility decision-making process easier. The application provides access to critical airport data and offers interactive planning tools such as imagery, airfield configuration, and airspace information. The information gathered from the app will allow local jurisdictions and officials to evaluate land use conflicts or airspace hazards efficiently.
The app offers access to airport data and interactive planning tools, including current airfield configuration for airports with current airport layout plans; a FAR Part 77 airspace calculator to evaluate tall structures adjacent to airports; the ability to zoom to specific airports, cities, and geographic regions; and new technology allowing users to print full-sized plan sheets.
The state is offering this tool as part of an effort to help grow and protect its aviation system. The testing period runs through Dec. 26.
