Madison, Wis.-area pilots took the opportunity to talk about aviation issues with a state Senate leader and AOPA Great Lakes Regional Manager Bryan Budds at a July 14 gathering at Dane County Regional-Truax Field.
About 40 pilots met with Budds and state Sen. Mark Miller (D-Monona) at facilities provided by Wisconsin Aviation.
Budds briefed the pilots on current AOPA advocacy and outreach initiatives. The pilots also got acquainted with former Air National Guard pilot Miller, who on July 17 became majority leader of the Wisconsin Senate.
“This was a great opportunity for AOPA members from across the area to come together and discuss issues important to them, and the future of general aviation in Wisconsin. Informal meetings between pilots and policy makers strengthen AOPA’s continuing efforts to engage members on local aviation issues, and open important channels of communication,” Budds said.
“Having legislative leadership interested and engaged in aviation on a personal level is critical to future legislative efforts in the state,” he added.
