Temporary VOR outages set in Coeur D’Alene

The FAA has scheduled daily shutdowns of the Coeur D’Alene VOR from June 13 to July 13 during the first two phases of a runway and taxiway rehabilitation project at Idaho’s Coeur D’Alene-Pappy Boyington Field.

The VOR will be shut down from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily during the period. The shutdowns will affect procedures at Coeur D’Alene, Sandpoint Airport in Idaho, and Felts Field, in Spokane, Wash., as detailed in this FAA memorandum,

Coeur D’Alene’s Runway 5 localizer will be shut down on six separate dates while work is in progress inside the localizer’s critical area, the FAA said. Coeur D’Alene’s Runway 1-19 will be closed for the duration of the four-phase project, scheduled for completion Aug. 17.

Pilots are urged to check notices to airman for the latest updates and plan accordingly for IFR flights in the vicinity of the affected navaid and airports.
