The Port of Kennewick, sponsor of the Vista Field Airport in Kennewick, Wash., is holding a special meeting and public hearing on April 17 at 7 p.m. to hear public comments on alternatives for the airport. The alternatives have been outlined in the “Final Vista Field Planning, Environmental and Economic Analysis with Integrated Environmental Impact Statement.”
AOPA is urging all pilots in Washington state to submit comments to the port asking that they select the “Expansion Alternative” of the final environmental impact statement, which will keep the facility open and create a viable general aviation airport.
The meeting will be held at the Tri-Cities Business & Visitor Center Bechtel Board Room at 7130 Grandridge Blvd. in Kennewick. The port has indicated it will not hold an advisory vote of the people, but will make its decision after receiving comments.
For those unable to attend the meeting, the port will accept written comments submitted by 5 p.m. on April 12 via fax 509/582-7678 or email.
