The MD302 Standby Attitude Module can also display in a vertical configuration.
Weighing just 1.6 pounds with a two-inch by five-inch panel footprint, the MD302 Standby Attitude Module packs a lot into a small package: The solid-state instrument provides attitude, altitude, airspeed, and a turn coordinator on an easy-to-read screen that requires less space on the panel than any two of the traditional instruments it is designed to replace or backup.
Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics expects to receive in April an approved model list (AML) that will facilitate installation of the $10,600 MD302 SAM in hundreds of fixed-wing aircraft certificated under Part 23. Technical standard order approval has already been granted. The unit is capable of interfacing with a variety of other avionics systems, and designed to provide another layer of redundancy in a compact package. The split-screen display can be configured for horizontal or vertical installation.
First announced at NBAA 2012 in October, the MD302 made its first appearance at the Aircraft Electronics Association International Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas on March 26.
