The latest GTN software has received TSO approval and is available from Garmin dealers as a free upgrade, although installation prices may apply. GTN was introduced two years ago and allows operators to access more airports using WAAS LPV approaches, display of weather radar, and to meet terrain awareness requirements worldwide.

Garmin has come up with a simplified worldwide weather pricing plan and a new position reporting system, both using Garmin global connectivity services. The weather pricing system offers predictability of month-to-month charges (all-inclusive plans start at $100 a month), while the position reporting system allows owners to use Garmin avionics they already have.
