TFRs to be in effect in Florida, New Mexico, California

General aviation pilots flying in Florida on June 16 are urged to check notices to airmen frequently for the dimensions and effective times of a temporary flight restriction (TFR) that will be in effect in connection with a visit by President Obama to Orlando, where he was scheduled to pay respects to the victims of the nation’s worst mass shooting. Later this weekend, the president will be in New Mexico and California, sparking additional TFRs.
Pilots should watch out for temporary flight restrictions.

Notams FDC 6/0693 and FDC 6/0695 have been published, and will affect flights in the Orlando area, including operations at 11 area airports on June 16 during the president’s visit. Pilots should review the notams for the dimensions and locations of the affected airspace areas and the time periods during which flight restrictions will be in effect.

With Father’s Day weekend coming and the summer flying season getting underway, AOPA recommends that those pilots who will be flying in western states between June 17 and June 19 check notams frequently to stay updated on additional TFRs that will be in effect in California and New Mexico at various times during a presidential visit to several National Parks in connection with the National Park Service’s centennial celebration.

Notams FDC 6/0871 and FDC 6/0879 will affect flight in the area of Roswell/Carlsbad, New Mexico, on June 17 during President Obama's planned visit. Review the notams for the effective times in the notams’ multiple affected airspace areas. Three public-use airports will be affected, the FAA said.

Notam FDC 6/0580 and FDC 6/0586 will affect flight in the area of Merced, California, during President Obama's planned visit, affecting operations at nine public-use airports from 6:15 p.m. local time until 7:15 p.m. on June 17, and from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on June 19 as currently published.

Notam FDC 6/0584 will be in effect over Yosemite, California, on June 17 from 7 p.m. local time until 1:45 p.m. on June 19.

Pilots are urged to review all these notams frequently, and note any changes to the dimensions and locations of the affected airspace areas, and times restrictions are in effect before conducting flight operations.
