Ready your crayons for Commuter Craft contest

Paint scheme prizes for youth, adults

Commuter Craft, the Georgia-based company behind the Innovator, an experimental single-engine pusher-prop with fixed gear and a canard, has announced a paint scheme contest with cash prizes for youth and adults.

The aircraft company behind the twin-rudder composite design is “looking for fresh artwork ideas” to showcase the 60-inch-wide-cabin, 180-horsepower, VFR model that cruises at 184 mph. Estimates indicate that home builders can complete the aircraft for about $135,000.

There are two categories—one for youth ages 17 and under, and one for adults. A grand prize of $500 will be awarded in addition to first-, second-, and third-place winners of $250, $100, and $50, respectively, according to a July 10 news release.

The contest deadline is July 31, just after 2018 EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where aviation enthusiasts can see the aircraft in person.

The Commuter Craft first flew in 2015 and made its public debut at the 2016 U.S. Sport Aviation Expo.
