Question of the Week
Question

I'm a commercial pilot and have an opportunity to do some sightseeing flights for a local operator. I'm under 40 and got a first class medical 16 months ago. Do I still have second class medical privileges, or do I need to get a new first or second class medical?
Answer
You currently have third class medical privileges and would be required to get a new first or second class medical before exercising your commercial privileges (see FAR 61.23).

This question and answer were provided by AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Got a question for our technical services staff? Contact AOPA.
