Aviation businesses promote deals through 'virtual airshows'

Any other year, the beginning of April would kick off the airshow season, but it is 2020, and many aviation shows have been canceled well into the summer because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Aviation vendors know you’re jonesing for something to take your mind off the pandemic. Garmin and Sporty’s, among others, have stepped up to the plate with aviation webinars, “virtual airshows,” and other special promotions.

Garmin is offering webinars on its latest products, including the GI 275 electronic flight instrument and the GTN 650Xi/GTN 750Xi touch-screen navigators. Additionally, you can find out how to retrofit the GFC 500 and GFC 600 autopilot into your airplane; learn about Garmin avionics for experimental aircraft; find out about cost-effective avionics upgrades; and get an overview of Garmin services that simplify international flying.

Additionally, Garmin is offering savings on autopilots, navigators, ADS-B Out transponders, audio panels, and more. A $150 rebate is offered on the D2 Delta PX, D2 Delta S, and D2 Delta aviation watches, and a $100 rebate is available on the GDL 50/51/52 series of portable ADS-B In receivers.

Gleim Aviation and Laminar Research are making available an introductory version of the Gleim X-Plane Flight Training Course and the full version of the X-Plane 11 flight simulator program, functional until June 30. The online course includes two lessons.

Sporty’s is packaging show-season deals with a virtual airshow segment featuring Patty Wagstaff and her Extra 300. In the clip shot at EAA AirVenture 2019, Wagstaff can be seen performing snap rolls, tailslides, and other maneuvers. The company is offering deals on training products such as headsets and more, as well as offering discounts on certain online courses, including the Learn to Fly and Instrument Rating courses.
