DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase postponed

Organizers target January 2021

The DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase, scheduled for November 12 to 14 in Florida, has been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Show organizers are targeting late January 2021 for the next event.

Officials at DeLand Municipal Airport-Sidney H Taylor Field said they had hoped to continue with the event “to help salvage the embattled tradeshow industry,” but “the rising number of [COVID-19] cases in Florida would make the event unsafe at this time.”

The city of DeLand canceled all local events through the end of November.

Organizers said they are “still planning to produce a world class sport aviation event as soon as circumstances allow—hopefully in late January 2021.”

The event provides an economic boost to the area, bringing in $2 million “in sales and services” at DeLand Municipal Airport, officials said, adding that the economic impact to DeLand was more than $1.5 million.
