Question of the Week
|
Question
How do you conduct the annual emergency locator transmitter inspection, and how should it be logged? |
| Answer |
Because the ELT inspection is not considered preventive maintenance (see FAR Part 43, Appendix A), an A&P must sign the logbook entry. You can pull the cover off the tail, remove the ELT, hand it to the mechanic for inspection, and replace it afterward, but the mechanic must perform the actual inspection and sign the log.
