CAU receives Part 141 approval in Phoenix

With FAR Part 141 approval, California Aeronautical University’s Phoenix campus joins the ranks of its other locations and offers eligible students in its fixed-wing program a more structured flight training curriculum that may save students time and money when working toward their airline transport pilot certificate (ATP).

CAU’s Phoenix flight training campus offers a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics for students training for a career as a commercial pilot. CAU’s California locations in Bakersfield, Ventura County, and San Diego already have Part 141 approval.

Now a Part 141 school, eligible CAU Phoenix students who earn their bachelor’s degree can benefit from a minimum age reduction as well as a 500-flight-hour reduction toward their ATP certificate.

To be eligible for an ATP certificate, candidates without a bachelor’s degree typically must have 1,500 flight hours and be at least 23 years old. Through the Part 141 program, qualified CAU graduates may be eligible for a restricted privileges ATP (R-ATP) with 1,000 flight hours at the age of 21.
