The course, available on the website, fulfills all FAA requirements for the new recency of experience requirements to keep any flight instructor certificate active.
ASI improved this year’s edition of the course in numerous ways, updating and refreshing the modules to include the most current regulations and making it overall more user-friendly.
The new course offers two new elective modules: Getting Back into Flight Instruction and Sport Pilots and Light Sport Category Aircraft.
Certificated flight instructors who haven’t taught in a while will find the Getting Back into Flight Instruction module useful. It focuses on what instructors need to know if returning to flight instruction after taking some time off. Learn about new technologies in flight training and processes that will make a return to the right seat a smooth one.
Lots of pilots have questions about the new MOSAIC rule, which the FAA unveiled in July. Take the Sport Pilot and Light Sport Category Aircraft module and learn more about who is eligible, what aircraft they can operate, from when, how they go about flying under the new light sport rules, and what impact that will have on flight instructing. Instructors may encounter more sport students going forward, and their needs will be different.
There is no longer a timed “next” button, so you can go at your own pace within each individual module. In addition, every module now has a Resources page featuring relevant articles, videos, and more from reputable sources like the FAA and AOPA. At the end of each module, you’ll now find only five multiple-choice questions and no final exam.
AOPA’s new eFIRC makes renewing your CFI certificate easier and more engaging than ever, with all proceeds continuing to support ASI’s vital safety programs for the pilot community.
