A documentary on the life of aviation legend Bob Hoover that premiered last August at the Rhode Island International Film Festival has arrived on DVD and Blu-ray Disc.
Flying the Feathered Edge will be available "just in time to celebrate Hoover's 93rd birthday on Jan. 24," said an announcement from The Bob Hoover Project.
The 86-minute documentary, produced, directed, and edited by Kim Furst, includes interviews with Harrison Ford, Carroll Shelby, Burt Rutan, Dick Rutan, Medal of Honor Recipient Col. Bud Day, Gene Cernan, Clay Lacy, and Sean D. Tucker.
In the film, Hoover "reveals hard earned wisdom from a life spent pushing the edge of the flight envelope while contributing to aviation's many developments." He is joined in the documentary "by some of the best and brightest minds in aerospace today."
A testimonial from Jack Pelton, chairman of the Experimental Aircraft Association, calls the film "the best aviation documentary I have ever seen."
Here’s another: "This film captures my life story in an authentic and accurate way. I don't know how it could have been done any better," said Hoover.
Flying the Feathered Edge is currently available on DVD ($28.95) and Blu-Ray Disc ($32.95) exclusively at the Bob Hoover Project.
The film is the award-winning director’s fifth aviation documentary as film editor and first as producer and director. Her prior work includes the general aviation documentary One Six Right, Discovery Channel's Rocket Challenge, and Wings Over the Rockies starring Harrison Ford.
Furst has produced a number of "the making of" genre documentaries for features. She won a Golden Satellite Award for Best DVD Extras for Mission: Impossible: III.
