Learn from aviation legends at AOPA Summit

AOPA’s Aviation Summit 2010, general aviation’s premier event, will take place in Long Beach, Calif., from Nov. 11 through 13 at the Long Beach Convention Center and at the Long Beach/Daugherty Field—the site for this year’s Airportfest.

Attendees can enjoy more than 500 exhibits; view keynote addresses, AOPA Live, and product demonstrations; and interact with fellow members all within the exhibit hall. The cornerstone of the event is the new and vibrant speaker and forum schedule. With more than 70 hours of forums to select from, you’ll find what you are looking for, whether you wish to refresh your pilot skills or are considering taking that first step to earning your certificate.

Check out Jason Blair, executive director of the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) in this recent AOPA Live interview from EAA AirVenture . Blair will present “How to Pass Any Checkride,” a must-see forum at this year’s Summit. This forum is back by popular demand, and Blair, a CFI and a designated pilot examiner, will share tips and provide insightful information for anyone wishing to reduce performance anxiety!

For a change of pace, be sure to see Dick Rutan (commander of the famous 1986 flight of Voyager), together with Mike Melvill (test pilot for SpaceShipOne) speak at the forum, “Commercializing Space.” These adventurers will pull back the curtain of aviation’s future on Thursday, Nov. 11. Rutan spoke to AOPA Live at AirVenture, giving you taste of what’s to come. You have an additional opportunity to see these same legends up close and in person by purchasing a Dine Around ticket for Thursday evening. Don’t wait as seating is limited for this social event and others.

These aren’t the only exciting speakers that will take part in Summit. Check out our online schedule to start making a list of those you want to see.
