You’ve read about AOPA Editor in Chief Tom Haines’ adventures as a Bonanza owner over the years. You’ve read about the many AOPA airplane sweepstakes that he’s helped orchestrate. Now, he’s looking to profile one AOPA member in the market for an airplane during an aircraft buying workshop at AOPA Aviation Summit in October.
“At the workshop, we hope to take all the guesswork out of buying an aircraft,” Haines said. “And one member is going to have perhaps what is the easiest transition to buying an aircraft of anyone out there.”
Haines is looking for a volunteer to participate in his “Buying an aircraft workshop: An interactive guide to buying your next airplane” on Friday, Oct. 12, in the Palm Springs Convention Center. (Note: The volunteer will need to be present during the seminar.) He will interview the lucky member in advance of the presentation to learn about the type of aircraft he or she wants to buy and potentially get insurance and finance quotes in advance.
During the interactive workshop, Haines and the participants will help guide the volunteer through the aircraft buying process, from identifying the best airplane for his or her mission to how to shop for the best bargain. Attendees at the workshop can see exactly what steps to follow when deciding what kind of aircraft to buy, how to search for the right bird, how to have it inspected, and what insurance and financial options are available.
