As the ice slowly begins its annual departure from Lake Hood in Anchorage, Alaska, and seaplane pilots prepare for the coming season, a 29-year tradition will continue on April 26: The Seaplane Safety Seminar organized by the Alaskan Aviation Safety Foundation.
AOPA Alaska Regional Manager Tom George will be on hand to brief pilots on upcoming CTAF changes in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley that are expected to take effect in late May. The agenda includes safety seminars, exhibits, and a chance for pilots to meet, or catch up with old friends.
Seminars will cover seaplane operations, search and rescue, float maintenance, and interactive scenarios designed for audience participation. The annual event is designed to prime pilots for the coming float season.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Office of Aircraft Services Tom Wardleigh Hangar, located at 4405 Lear Court, Lake Hood, Anchorage, Alaska. Admission is free, and lunch will be available. Call 907/262-3872 or 907/398-6228 for more information.
